The following is a transcript for the episode "Two Party System".
Script
(In Bergen Town, King Gristle Jr. receives a pop-up card with an invitation to Branch’s birthday party by Poppy.)
Pop-up Troll #1: Gristle, you're invited!
Pop-up Troll #2: To Branch's birthday party!
King Gristle Jr.: Wow. You made this? So elaborate.
Poppy: Oh, there’s more. Pull the tab. (King Gristle Jr. pulls the tab and the card explodes with rainbow fireworks. He is now covered in soot.)
King Gristle Jr.: You know, Bergens don’t do birthdays so this all seems over the top to me.
Poppy: I do b-day bashes for all my friends. It’s the one day of the year where I can make it entirely about them. (We go to the flashback of Biggie’s birthday. A curtain opens to reveal several Trolls.)
All: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! (They run out of the way for a flock of sheep.)
Past Biggie: Animals! (The camera shifts to the next flashback of Smidge’s birthday.)
Past Smidge: Let’s do this! (The camera moves out to see that she and Poppy are on a mushroom with a huge ramp. Smidge slides down the ramp and flies into the air.) YEAH!
All: (Holding a happy birthday sign) HAPPY BIRTHDAY! (We are now at the last flashback of DJ Suki’s birthday. A curtain opens up to reveal a soft blue chair.)
Past DJ Suki: It’s more beautiful than in my dreams. (She jumps into it and falls asleep.)
All: (quietly) Happy birthday! (We go back to the present.)
Poppy: So, can I count you in for Branch’s shindig tomorrow?
King Gristle Jr.: Oh, Branch’s birthday is tomorrow? That’s weird. So is Bridget’s.
Poppy: (laughs) Wait. What?
King Gristle Jr.: Tomorrow. It’s Bridget’s birthday too. You didn’t know that? (Suddenly, a train heads towards Poppy.)
Poppy: Aaaahhh! (She covers her eyes and the train moves out of her way.)
King Gristle Jr.: Ah, I see you noticed my toy train. I’m a bit of a rail fan-
Poppy: Gristle! (She jumps onto his arms.) Why didn’t anyone think to tell me tomorrow was Bridget’s birthday?
Gristle: Uh, hello! We’re Bergens. Being thoughtful isn’t exactly our forte. (Bridget bursts in with shopping bags.)
Bridget: Hey, guys! ‘Sup?
Poppy: Bridget!
King Gristle Jr.: Hola, milady. We were just chattin’ about your birthday.
Poppy: Uh... (She uses her hair to smack Gristle in the hand.) Didn’t get a chance to tell you. I’m throwing you an amazing party!
Bridget: A birthday party?! (gasps happily) What exactly does that entail?
Poppy: You know, just every Bergen in town eating… uh, pizza and roller skating and singing to you around a huge cake! All by tomorrow. (She sits down.)
Bridget: Thank you! Thank you! Thank you, Poppy! I can’t believe you’re going to so much trouble just for me.
Poppy: Yeah! (giggles nervously) Just for you. (The next day in Troll Village, she imitates a trumpet. The camera reveals her wearing a purple and yellow party hat on her head.) Okay, is the birthday boy ready for a sensational celebration? (Branch is standing still with his arms folded. He is wearing a pink and green party hat.)
Branch: I accept my fate. (He breathes deeply.) Proceed.
Poppy: Come on, Branch. I know you’re not big on parties, but you’re gonna think this one is pretty awesome. (She goes to open the curtain.) Now, 1, 2..
Branch: Hey, you seem pretty beat. What did you do last night?
Poppy: Uh... who, me? (The camera shifts to a tired Poppy from last night.)
Past Poppy: Keep it up, Smidge. (The camera shifts to Smidge icing Branch’s birthday cake.)
Poppy: I gotta pull off two earth-shattering parties at the same time without Branch or Bridget knowing what’s up. (Smidge gives her a thumbs-up.) Now, Chad, Todd, how’s the decorating coming?
Past Chad and Todd: Hey! (They fall off the ladder and cause the birthday banner to fall.)
Past Poppy: We’ll work on it! Now, let me hear how we’re doing with that birthday greeting.
Bergen #1 and Past Bernice: Happy birthday!
Past Groth: Boo!
Poppy: We do not boo people on their birthdays.
Past Groth: Ugh. So many rules. (Poppy sighs and we go back to the present day.)
Poppy: Uh... just stayed home scrapbooking. Anyway, 3! (She pulls the curtain and a pool party is revealed.)
All: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Branch: A pool party. Cool.
Poppy: Buddy, this isn’t a pool party. It’s a lifeguard party! (The camera shifts to a lifeguard house. Branch gasps in amazement.)
Branch: It’s even more beautiful than in my dreams.
Poppy: Get guardin’, safety nerd! (Branch runs to his lifeguard house and changes into his gear. Then he blows a whistle at a red female Troll running.)
Branch: You! Slow down! (To a red male Troll walking) You! Speed up! The bugs’ll eat you alive at that pace. (The bugs’ buzzing can be heard and the red male Troll runs away from them. Poppy giggles and an alarm rings. She takes it out of her hair and looks at it.)
Poppy: Time to get to Bridget’s party. (Smidge is placing fireworks on the ground until Poppy appears.) Smidge, worry about the fireworks finale later. I gotta get Bridget’s party going. Cover for me.
Smidge: You sure about all this, Poppy? Can’t you at least tell Branch and Bridget what you’re doing?
Poppy: No. The whole point is that they each feel like today is entirely about them. Now, can I count on you?
Smidge: I will not fail you. (She gives Poppy a pair of yellow roller skates. She whistles for her Flyer Bug and gets on it.)
Poppy: Come on, girl. Faster! Faster! (She flies to Bergen town and as soon as she arrives, she imitates a trumpet again.) OK, is the birthday girl ready for her sensational celebration?
Bridget: (breathing quickly) I’m ready. (Poppy opens the door.)
All: BAPPY HIRTHDAY!
Bridget: Bappy hirthday to you, too! (The Bergens cheer for her. Poppy signals the DJ and music plays. Bridget and the rest of the Bergens roller skate in a conga.) Yes, yes, yes! I love birthdays!
King Gristle Jr.: Poppy! Poppy! Party planning 911! (He skates into the wall by accident.) Ow. The kitchen ran out of anchovies, and Bergens won’t eat their mayonnaise and anchovy pizza without them.
Poppy: Ugh. Well, Bridget has to have her favorite pizza, so… um, solutions. (Her alarm clock goes off and she looks at it.) I’ll come up with something. In the meantime, see if you can get everyone excited about plain mayonnaise pizza. (She skates away.)
King Gristle Jr.: Plain mayonnaise pizza? But Bergens have a very refined palate.
Bergen #2: (Skating by) Oh, floor mayo. (He eats it and continues roller skating. Poppy flies back to Troll Village on her Flyer Bug.)
Poppy: Ugh, we’ve been away from Branch’s party too long, girl. Gonna have to dive right in and hope no-one noticed. (She jumps off her Flyer Bug into Branch’s party.)
Troll #1: Yeah! (Poppy carries a plate of cookies.)
Poppy: Hey, thanks for coming out. Love the new hair color. This Troll, ha, am I right? (She walks over to Branch.) Branch, whatcha doin’?
Branch: (In a throaty voice) Waging my war against the sea. I lose focus… she takes a life.
Poppy: And.. that’s fun for you, right?
Branch: Best party of all time.
Poppy: (singsongy) Oh, yeah! I’m the best! Party Planner! (She goes in a bush with Smidge.) Way to have my back, Smidge.
Smidge: It has been my greatest honor.
Poppy: Gotta say, things here are actually going really well. (The sun comes out of the clouds and the Trolls scream and run away.)
Biggie: The sun! It’s too intense! (Smidge hisses from the heat of the sun. Then she flees.)
Poppy: (Sweating from the heat) Whoa! Easy, guys! I brought umbrellas. (She searches her hair for umbrellas.) Uh, where did I put them? (At the skate rink, she takes small umbrellas from the drinks the Bergens are having.) Whoop! Pardon me. Not a garnish. (She stops in front of Bridget.) Bridget!
Bridget: Hey, Poppy. Great party. But some of the guests were wondering about anchovies.
Groth: (Holding up a pizza) No anchovies?! (He throws his pizza on the ground.) This is an outrage!
King Gristle Jr.: (sighs) I told you. Bergens have a very refined palate. Now they’re ready to burn this place to the ground.
Bernice: I am gonna throw things! (She picks up a table.)
Poppy: Whoa! Everyone, please! I’ll give you anchovies, but you’ve gotta stay calm.
Groth: Fine. You have 10 minutes to fix this. Then we riot.
Bridget: A riot? At my birthday party?
Poppy: Don’t worry, Bridge. I’ll find anchovies. (Her alarm rings and she yells with anger. Then she flies on her Flyer Bug to Troll Village.) Aw, come on, come on. Umbrellas! (She starts throwing the umbrellas.) Branch’s party! Have fun now! The Trolls come out of the shade and cheer.) Anchovies… anchovies! (She catches some anchovies out of the pond and flies back to the roller skating rink. The Bergens are counting backwards from 10.)
Groth: Oh, yeah. This is happening, boys! (He turns on a chain-saw. Poppy skates into the rink and goes flying off a sign, dropping the anchovies onto the pizza. Then she crashes into the wall.)
Poppy: I’m OK!
Bridget: Do I smell mayonnaise and anchovies? (chuckles) My favorite. (She puts a slice into her mouth.)
Groth: (Turning off his chain-saw) Uh, happy birthday.
Bridget: (gasps) I get presents too? I-I’ve never felt so special in my entire life! (She dances around with the chain-saw. Poppy’s alarm rings once again.) I have got to thank Poppy. (But Poppy jumps toward the window and onto her Flyer Bug. Bridget chases after her.) Uh, Poppy, wait! (In Troll Village, Smidge meets Poppy.)
Smidge: Hm? Hm? (She hugs Poppy as she yawns.) So, how’d it go?
Poppy: You know, Smidge, seeing Branch and Bridget so happy, I realize all the running around, all the keeping them in the dark, it was totally worth it. (Bridget appears in front of her and Poppy.)
Bridget: Whew.
Poppy: Bridget! What are you doing here?
Smidge: Oh, my Guh!
Bridget: I ran after you ‘cause I wanted to thank you. And, whew, you just kept on goin’. (She sits on mushrooms to rest. She sees Branch’s party on the go.) Wait, are you throwing me another birthday party?
Poppy: Yeah, uh, I can explain.
Bridget: For me? (Smidge motions for Poppy to tell her the truth.)
Poppy: Yes. It’s your... uh.. after party! (Smidge does a face palm.)
Bridget: An after party? It’s more beautiful than in my dreams!
Poppy: Yeah. I hear that a lot.
Branch: Oh, Poppy, there you are. (Smidge hides behind Poppy as he appears from behind the bushes.)
Poppy: Branch!
Smidge: Oh, my Guh!
Branch: I’ve been looking all over for you. And hey, Bridget. I was hoping you would come.
Bridget: Why wouldn’t I c-
Poppy: Yeah! Why wouldn’t she? Silly Branch. (She laughs hard.)
Branch: Uh. okay.
Bridget: I was just telling Poppy how amazed I am that she did all this just-
Poppy: For my best friend! Yep. The best party for my best friend.
Branch and Bridget: Aw!
Poppy: Well, this has been great. Why don’t we all just walk away and not talk to each other until tomorrow?
Biggie: Where’s the guest of honor? (He comes in with the birthday cake and a group of Trolls.)
Branch and Bridget: I’m here!
Smidge: (Doing another face palm) Oh, my Guh.
Biggie: It’s time to sing “Happy Birthday”! (He and the rest of the trolls close their eyes and begin to sing. Poppy becomes scared of Bridget finding out about this being Branch’s party and the singing slows down.)
Poppy: (In her head) If they finish the song, they’ll sing Branch’s name and Bridget will know this party isn’t for her!
Smidge: (In her head) Oh, my Guh, Oh, my Guh, Oh, my Guh, Oh, my Guh!
Poppy: (In her head) I need a diversion. I need a... diversion! (She runs over to the fireworks and lights them on fire. The fireworks go off and the Trolls stop singing. Poppy covers her ears and grunts.)
Poppy: Just a little surprise. (A firework rocket flies into the bag.)
Poppy: Uh-oh. (The bag explodes and the Trolls run for safety. Bridget covers her eyes.)
Smidge: I’m outta here. (The firework rocket flies all around the party causing damage. Then it hits Poppy and she is knocked out. Soon, she wakes up with the Trolls watching her.)
Smidge: Death has given back our queen! (Poppy sits up and looks around.)
Poppy: I owe everyone an explanation. All day, I’ve secretly been-
Branch: Throwing two birthdays. (An upset Bridget appears.) Smidge told us.
Bridget: This is my upset face.
Poppy: I’m sorry. (She sighs in shame.) I really tried to make you both feel special.
Bridget: No, Poppy. We’re upset because you put too much pressure on yourself. We don’t need you to throw us big parties.
Branch: Exactly.
Bridget: Because you make us feel special every day. (She cries tears of joy.)
Branch: OK, too much, Bridget.
Bridget: You’re like a sister to us. And you’re so sweet, and you’re so pretty.
Branch: (Trying to wipe Bridget’s tears) Just stop it. Stop it right now.
Poppy: Aw, you guys. Well, I guess I can go easier on myself, but, you got to admit, it would’ve been pretty sweet if I had pulled both parties on your actual birthdays.
Branch: Oh, well, today’s not my birthday.
Poppy: Wait. What?
Branch: Yeah. My birthday’s tomorrow. (Poppy becomes upset and the train's horn is heard.)
Poppy: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
