The following is a transcript for the episode "Hug Fest".
Script
(Poppy and Branch are walking to the Hug Fest. Poppy is very excited to go there.)
Poppy: There’s the Cuddlehopper, the Hug-A-Whirl, the Tunnel of Hugs, and the Hug-And-Hold Railroad. I’m telling you, Branch, Hug Fest is the best!
Branch: Come on, Poppy. What could one more Troll Village hug celebration possible have to offer?
Poppy: This. (She pulls a bush and sees that the Hug Fest is an amusement park. Trolls can be heard cheering on the roller coaster.)
Branch: Whoa.
Poppy: See, Branch? Hug Fest has everything. Rides… (We go to Gia and Bella on the bumper cars. They bump into each other and grunt. Bella’s car sprouts hands and hugs Gia’s car. Both of them sigh happily.)
Poppy: Games! (We go to Sky Toronto playing the Hug-O-Meter. He stretches his fingers and hugs the machine. It sprouts hands and hugs him as well.)
Machine: Awkward! (Sky frowns.)
Poppy: And attractions! (We go to a fortune-telling tent where Cybil is telling a purple Glitter Troll her future.)
Cybil: Yes, I see. Today you will be hugged by a new friend. Me! (She and the Glitter Troll hug. We then go back to Poppy and Branch.)
Branch: All right, I’m in. But my affection tolerance is still pretty low, so can you just promise we won’t hug too much?
Poppy: Absolutely. (She goes to the ticket booth.) Two tickets, please.
Ticket Booth Owner: That will be 25 hugs each.
Branch: 25?!
Poppy: Relax. I’ve got a coupon.
Ticket Booth Owner: (Taking Poppy’s coupon) Oh. Then 50 hugs each!
Poppy: Yay! (She and the ticket booth owner start hugging.)
Both: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5… (Later, Poppy and Branch are now in the amusement park.)
Branch: (With messy hair) Well, that took way longer than it needed to.
Poppy: (Holding a map) Trust me, it’s all worth it, because we’re gonna start with the best ride in the park. The Big Squeeze! (Branch looks up to see how high the ride is.)
Branch: Huh?
Poppy: I’ve ridden on it dozens of times, and it’s fantastic! (Satin and Chenille go on the ride. They scream as the seat goes up into the air fast.)
Branch: (Sweating in fear) Wha- (The seat reaches the top and hangs for a moment.) Oh, no. No, no, no. (The arms on the seat let go of Satin and Chenille and they fall screaming and laughing. Branch covers his eyes. Satin and Chenille hang on ropes just before they hit the ground. Then they go back up to the seat.)
Poppy: So?
Branch: Uh… Here’s an idea. How about we save this one for later?
Poppy: Wait, what?
Branch: Great! No take-backs. Glad we’re on the same page. (He drags Poppy away.)
Poppy: Whoa! (Biggie and Guy Diamond appear. Biggie is wearing a baby carrier for Mr. Dinkles.)
Guy Diamond: Ooh! Biggie, let’s start at the Hug House.
Biggie: Could we start at the Hug-And-Hold Railroad? Mr. D loves wearing the conductor’s hat.
Guy Diamond: (Seeing that Mr. Dinkles is missing) Where is Mr. Dinkles?
Biggie: (gasps) Mr. Dinkles? (He rips the baby carrier off.) MR. DINKLES! (He goes over to a carnival game.) Mr. Dinkles?! Mr. Dinkles?! (He looks in a trash can.) Mr. Dinkles, where are you?! (When he goes back to Guy Diamond, he picks him up.) Where can he be?!
Guy Diamond: Don’t worry, Biggie. We’ll find him. (Biggie puts him down and he acts like a detective.) Two concerned friends against the whole world, stopping at nothing to find a lost loved one. The intrigue, the drama.
Biggie: Wait, Guy, are you concerned or entertained?
Guy Diamond: Both.
Mr. Dinkles: Meep. (Guy Diamond and Biggie gasp.)
Guy Diamond: There he is! (They run over to Gemma Fur.)
Biggie: You found him! (Gemma turns around and it revealed that is just a toy version of Mr. Dinkles. Biggie gasps in horror.)
Guy Diamond: That’s not Mr. Dinkles. What the hair is going on? (Gemma points to a carnival game with Mr. Dinkles toys and the real Mr. Dinkles.)
Mr. Dinkles: Meep. (Biggie and Guy Diamond run over to him.)
Biggie: There you are, Mr. D! You had me worried sick! (He tries to take him, but Tug stops him with a light blue cane. She is also dressed in a carnival outfit.)
Tug: Hello, sirs! (Guy Diamond and Biggie scream in shock.) Welcome to Tug Duluth’s prize booth. Play a game, win a prize.
Biggie: But I’m trying to get Mr. Dinkles. He’s not a prize. He’s real!
Gemma: Yeah, my Mr. Dinkles is real, too.
Guy Diamond: No, no, he’s real-real. He meeps and everything. (Gemma pulls a string on her toy.)
Toy Mr. Dinkles: Meep. (Guy Diamond groans.)
Tug: Fun fact: You must win a game to win a prize! (She giggles and pulls a lever. The booth changes to a ring toss game.) Huh? (She gives a ring to Gemma.)
Gemma: Yay! (She throws the ring at a target Troll.) All right! First try!
Tug: Here’s your prize!
Gemma: Wahoo!
Tug: You’re up. (Biggie takes the ring from her.)
Guy Diamond: A Troll with everything in a line, in a game he never intended to play. The intrigue. The drama.
Biggie: Guy!
Tug: Come on and play. I haven’t got all day. (Biggie and Guy Diamond look at each other and nod. Then Biggie throws the ring. It lands on a target Troll. Biggie and Guy Diamond cheer at first, but the ring falls off the target and they stop cheering.)
Biggie and Guy Diamond: Oh, come on!
Tug: Wow. What an unlucky shot. Let’s try something different. (She pulls the lever again and the ring toss game changes to a Hug-A-Troll game.)
Game Troll #1: Hug me!
Game Troll #2: Over here!
Game Troll #3: Be my friend!
Tug: To succeed at Hug-A-Troll, simply hug a Troll. It’s that easy. (Biggie looks at Guy Diamond and he gives him a thumbs-up. Biggie chuckles and walks over to the machine.)
Game Troll #3: Hello!
Biggie: Hi! (He tries to hug the target, but misses.)
Game Troll #2: It’s hug time!
Biggie: Oh. It is? (He misses again.)
Game Troll #3: Be my friend!
Biggie: I’m trying to be your friend! Stop moving! (He misses once again.)
Game Troll #1: I love you. (Biggie misses for the 4th time.)
Biggie: Do you?! DO YOU LOVE ME?! (A buzzer sounds out, saying that he lost.)
Tug: Time’s up. (giggles) You are not improving. (Meanwhile, Poppy and Branch are attending a concert that is performed by H.U.G.G.)
Peppy: (Through the microphone) Hello, Hug Fest! Who’s ready to get H.U.G.G.ed?! (The audience cheers.)
Branch: A H.U.G.G. reunion? (laughs) I love these guys.
Mags: 2, 3, 4! (The members play their instruments.)
Peppy: Now, we’ve been around for a long, long time. But the great thing about hugs is… (chuckles) … they never get old. (As he sings, the audience sways left and right with their arms in the air.)
(Peppy)
The air is sweeter
Grass is greener when it’s hug time
Everybody, gather around
Get ready for your heart to shine
(Mags and Dr. Moobloom)
Show some love
(Peppy)
Wrap those arms around
And give a good hug
(Mags and Dr. Moonbloom)
Oh-oh, hear the chime
(Peppy)
Gonna spread the love
When it’s hug time… (Branch catches a medal thrown by Peppy.)
Poppy: They sound better than ever!
Branch: Yeah! Makes you wonder why they stopped playing in the first place. (Peppy does the splits and hurts his back.)
Peppy: My back! (The audience gasps.)
Branch: Oh, that’s why. (Meanwhile, Biggie and Guy Diamond are playing a game called Hug Hunt.)
Tug: Knock down three targets and you win a prize. (She picks up and hugs Mr. Dinkles.) Good luck.
Mr. Dinkles: Meep.
Guy Diamond: You can do this, Biggie. I believe in you. The audience believes in you.
Biggie: What audience?
Guy Diamond: Buh-buh-buh. Concentrate. (He puts Biggies hands on a water gun and exhales as he walks backwards. Biggie gets ready and sprays water, not realizing that the water gun only shoots a short distance.)
Tug: Fun fact: That was sad.
Biggie: (sighs) Oh. (Back with Poppy and Branch, he has bought a shirt, hat, sunglasses, and a balloon.)
Branch: Where to next? Cuddle Canyon? Bear Hug Bayou? Ooh, Embrace Raceway?
Poppy: How about The Big Squeeze?
Branch: (gasps) The Big Squeeze?
Poppy: Of course! We’ve been waiting all day.
Branch: Uh… Yeah, but I got to get some food first. (He pats his tummy.) I’m starving. (He runs off, leaving the stuff he bought behind.)
Poppy: Branch, wait! (Branch runs to a food booth.)
Branch: Your biggest item, please. Whatever takes the longest to eat.
Food Booth Owner: One Snuggler coming right up. That’s a hot dog hugged in a cupcake, then hugged in three kinds of cheese, then hugged in a brownie, then snuggled in a deep fryer. (He gives Branch his food and Poppy meets up.)
Branch: Uh… I think I lost my appetite.
Poppy: Great! Onto The Big Squeeze!
Branch: No, wait! I’ll eat it! (Poppy grabs him, causing him to drop his meal. Meanwhile, Mr. Dinkles is still in the prize booth.)
Mr. Dinkles: Meep. (Tug gives another toy to Gemma.)
Tug: Fun fact: The last prize goes to whoever wins the next game.
Biggie: And if I can’t make it?
Tug: All your efforts will have been in vain. Good luck. (She pulls the lever. A huge basketball net appears as Biggie and Guy Diamond watch in shock. Tug reappears with a whistle.) Shooter up! (She throws the ball to Biggie.)
Guy Diamond: The drama intensifies. (He eats some popcorn. At The Big Squeeze, two male Trolls get on.)
Poppy: Finally! Time for The Big Squeeze!
Branch: Uh… Uh… Uh… I would, but I don’t meet the height requirement. (He goes to the height measure.) See? (The camera reveals that he was just on his knees. He sighs and gets up.)
Poppy: Branch, what is going on here? You’ve been making excuses to avoid this ride all day and… (She gasps and realizes the reason.) Are you scared of it?
Branch: (gasps) Pfft! Me? Branch? Scared?
Poppy: Branch!
Branch: Of that ride? Scared?
Poppy: I know what you’re doing.
Branch: Me? Are you kidding?
Poppy: Stop.
Branch: That ride? Really?
Poppy: BRANCH!
Branch: (sighs) Fine. I’m maybe kind of… a lot scared of it.
Poppy: Well, you want to know a secret? I am, too.
Branch: You? But you’ve ridden it dozens of times.
Poppy: Yeah, and every time I’m scared. And believe it or not, that’s what makes it so fun.
Branch: Huh.
Poppy: So, what do you say. How about we get on that thing and terrify ourselves… together? (She holds out her hand. Branch looks at the seat sending the two male Trolls falling. Then he smiles and takes Poppy’s hand.) Great! Let’s go! (She drags Branch to the ride. Back at the game, Biggie is looking at the basketball net and Tug petting Mr. Dinkles.)
Biggie: (sighs) Guy, if I have any chance of winning this, I’ve got to get psyched up.
Guy Diamond: Biggie, are you saying…?
Biggie: I need… some drama.
Guy Diamond: (gasps) At Hug Fest, where the village gathers for fun, one Troll is playing for keeps.
Biggie: With the fate of his best friend hanging in the balance… he must summon all his wits, all his cunning, and become…a champion.
Guy Diamond: This summer, Biggie the Troll is The Hug Fest Hero!
Biggie: Here we go. (Meanwhile, Poppy and Branch have got on the seat of The Big Squeeze.)
Poppy: Here we go! (Branch chuckles sheepishly. He screams in fear and Poppy screams excitedly as the seat goes up very fast. Biggie throws the basketball at the net and it goes up in slow motion. Then it rolls around the top. Biggie and Guy Diamond let out an eager gasp. The seat is still going up. Branch is still screaming while Poppy is having fun.)
Branch: AAAAAAAAAHHH!
Poppy: WHOOOOOOOOO! WOOOOO-HOOOOO! (The seat reaches the top and hangs.) Well, this it! (Branch groans in fear. The ball is still rolling on the top of the net.)
Biggie and Guy Diamond: Yes!
Poppy: (Moving her arms in the air fast) Whooooooo! (She and Branch scream as the seat lets them fall toward the ground. Biggie whimpers as the ball is nearly in the net. Just before Branch and Poppy reach the ground, the ropes break their fall. The ball gets stuck in the net.)
Biggie: What?!
Poppy: Are you still scared?!
Branch: Yes! (He spreads his arms out.) And I love it! (He and Poppy go up again.) WAHOOOOO! (As he and Poppy laugh, his medal rips from his neck. Guy Diamond is now comforting Biggie.)
Biggie: But I made it, Guy. The ball was just too big. (The medal lands on the ball, causing it to go down the net and Biggie finally wins.)
Tug: Congratulations! You finally did it!
Mr. Dinkles: Meep.
Biggie: Mr. D! (He takes Mr. Dinkles and moves his arms back and forth with him in his arms.) Yaaaaaaay! (He closes his eyes and hugs Mr. Dinkles. Guy Diamond sheds a happy tear.)
Guy Diamond: (sniffles) The intrigue, the drama… the happy ending. (Soon the sun is setting.)
Branch: You know, riding that ride is scary, but it’s less scary with you.
Poppy: Want to go again? (She and Branch laugh and get on the ride again.) WAHOOOO!!!
Branch: I LOVE HUG FEST! (The seat goes up very fast again.)
