The following is a transcript for the episode "Scrap To The Future".
Script
(The Trolls are at the Hearts and Crafts Festival. They are having fun painting and decorating pictures. A purple female and red male Troll spray rainbow glitter on a purple male Troll while he is behind paper and her runs away. A yellow male Troll hammers a block of stone and it breaks, revealing a statue of a Troll. Poppy and Branch then appear.)
Branch: OK. I pulled an all-nighter to get this done, so I hope you like it. (He pulls a string and a banner appears.) Ta-da!
Poppy: “The Hearts and Crafts Festival. A celebration of Troll creativity.” Branch, it’s perfect! “Event item 37: Make festival sign.” Done-zo!
Branch: (sighs) Finally.
Poppy: Now you just have to make the back-up sign!
Branch: Wait, what?
Poppy: You know, in case this one rips, blows away or gets struck by lightning. Byyye! (She goes inside the festival.)
Branch; Wait. Poppy, wait! (He runs after her.) Hold on. Poppy, don’t you think you’re overdoing things a bit?
Poppy: Nope. The secret to throwing a fun event is to get ahead of everything that might go wrong.
Branch: Oh! (He falls over.)
Poppy: “Event item 604: Help Guy Diamond with his spray glittering booth.” (Guy Diamond puts on a mask and farts glitter through a heart shaped cutter. It lands on a purple shirt and the shape of a pink heart. Poppy jumps into it.) Hey, Guy. (Guy Diamond screams in shock.)
Guy Diamond: Hey, Poppy.
Poppy: I was thinking. (She takes out an orange bag.) This year the Trolls might want more than one T-shirt design option, so here’s 300 more. (She throws a huge pile of cutters on Guy Diamond.)
Guy Diamond: (gasps) I doubt we’ll need that many.
Poppy: But you never know. (She leaves. Harper is painting a picture of a Troll. She sees Poppy and screams in shock.) Brought you more green, Harper. (She takes out three green paint buckets.)
Harper: But you already brought me plenty of green. Lime, se foam, sage, jungle, mint, jungle-mint.
Poppy: Ah, but not light jungle-mint. (She puts another green paint can on the other cans and leaves.)
Harper: I don’t even need green!
Poppy: OK, what’s next? (Branch appears.)
Branch: Poppy, stop! (Poppy stops.) This is overkill. No matter how much you prepare, something always goes wrong. And you’ll drive yourself crazy trying to stay ahead of all of it. I mean, come on. (He takes Poppy’s agenda.) I mean, come on. Do you honestly think you can do this entire list before the festival opens? (He shows a very long list.)
Poppy: Of course not. I’m also gonna do my regular queen duties. (She shows another very long list.)
Branch: Fine. Suit yourself. But I am not doing a back-up sign.
Poppy: Aw. Not even if I make this face? (She shows Branch her cute pouty eyes.)
Branch: H-hey. No. Stop. (He closes his eyes, opens one of them, and groans.) Fine. Here. (He gives Poppy back her agenda and grunts as he walks away.)
Poppy: Ha! (She takes out a pencil.) “Manipulate Branch into making back-up sign.” (chuckles) Check. (She hears a crackling sound.) What was that? (A wormhole appears and a book lands on the ground.) Huh? (She picks up the book and wipes the dust off.) Whoa! (She opens the book.) Branch painting the back-up sign? (She pulls a tab and the pop-up Branch ends up getting paint on him.)
Pop-Up Branch: Oh, frosting!
Poppy: Huh. This is a weird scrapbook. (She closes the book.) Branch, you got to come see this! (She runs off. Meanwhile, Branch is using a paint roller to put red paint on it.) Hey, Branch! Branch! (Just as she arrives, Branch gets startled, causing him to throw the paint roller and stagger against a step ladder.)
Branch: Huh? (A paint bucket lands on his head.) Oh, frosting!
Poppy: (gasps) Troll-y moly! It happened, just like in the book!
Branch: (gasps) I have no idea what that means. (He takes the paint bucket off his head and red paint falls on him. He grunts, puts it down, and picks up a white towel.) And I’m fine, by the way. Thanks for asking. (He puts the towel over his head.)
Poppy: Branch, listen. This scrapbook showed me that you get covered in paint before it happened. (Branch finishes wiping himself.)
Branch: So this is a magic scrapbook that can predict the future?
Poppy: No, don’t be ridiculous. It’s probably a normal scrapbook sent from the future.
Branch: OK, I’m out of here.
Poppy: Branch, get back here. (She grabs Branch with her hair and opens the book.) Look, it’s Keith. (We see a pyramid of Pop-up Trolls.) And if you pull this… (The pile falls down.)
Pop-Up Keith: Ow! My tailbone!
Poppy: … it says he’s gonna fall! We got to go! (She runs off.)
Branch: Yeah, good luck with that. (He yells as Poppy grabs him with her hair. Keith is climbing a pyramid of Trolls. He soon reaches the top.)
Keith: A-ha! Tallest Troll pyramid of all time! (Poppy and Branch appear.)
Poppy: (gasps) See?!
Branch: Yeah, I do see. It’s Keith on a Troll pyramid not falling.
Troll #1: Hey, look! It’s Queen Poppy! (He gets up and this causes the other Trolls to lose their balance.)
Keith: Whoa! (He screams as he falls of the pyramid. Luckily, Poppy catches him just I time.) Awesome! (Poppy puts him down.) Crisis averted! (Five Trolls are in a pile.)
Troll #2: Oh! My head.
Poppy: See? See? It happened just like in the book, except… (gasps) … I stopped it.
Branch: OK. (chuckles) I admit that was odd, but I assure you, scrapbooks cannot predict the future. (Poppy takes out the book.)
Pop-Up Branch: Scrapbooks cannot predict the future.
Branch: That was just a coincidence. (Poppy pulls a tab.)
Pop-Up Branch: That was just a coincidence.
Branch: Stop that! (Poppy pulls another tab.)
Pop-Up Branch: Stop that!
Branch: (clears his throat) OK, I’m changing my position. (He takes the book from Poppy.) This thing is witchcraft and we have to get rid of it! (He whistles and a creature from the ground appears.) Away with you, demon book! (He tries to throw the book into the creature’s mouth, but Poppy catches it.)
Poppy: Hey, hey, hey! We are not getting rid of it. I can use it to get ahead of every bad thing that happens in the village. I can help Trolls, Branch.
Branch: Poppy, no. It’s too risky. Just think of the tricky questions this raises like, is there such a thing as fate? And if so, is it right for us to meddle with it? And if we’re here in this time… (He sees that Poppy has left and sighs.) She’s already gone. You’ll be back! (Poppy goes to help the Trolls in danger. As she does, she sings Time is On My Side.)
(Poppy)
There’s no way
Something bad’s gonna happen on my watch
Uh-uh
I’ll save the day
Because I’m always gonna beat the clock
That’s right
I’m on a mission with a vision from the future
I got time on my side
I’ll make everything right
We’ll all be winners, there won’t be a single loser
I got time on my side
I’ll make everything right
I got the power
Every single lesson in my book
And all I’ve got to do is take a look
Every hour
There is something awesome I can do for you
For you
Oh-oh, oh-oh
Time is on my side
Oh-oh, oh-oh
So I’m a make it right
Oh-oh, oh-oh
Time is on my side
Oh-oh, oh-oh
So I’m a make it right (Poppy jumps off a mushroom. Branch is seen sitting under it.)
Poppy: Wahoo! (sings) This scrapbook tells the future. I saved lots of Trolls.
Branch: So, I can see you’ve learned your lesson.
Poppy: Oh, Branch, I’m sorry. I was so busy enjoying my overwhelming success, I didn’t see you pouting. (Branch groans.) Say, I was just about to look at the next scrapbook prediction. (She opens the book.) Care to join me? Try it. (She comes closer to Branch.) You know you want to.
Branch: Stop! Leave me alone!
Poppy: Come on!
Branch: Cut it out!
Poppy: Fine, fine. (She sees something in the book.) Oh. That looks like the Hearts and Crafts Festival. (She pulls a tab and the pop-up Trolls become disappointed.)
All: We’re so disappointed! (Poppy gasps in horror.)
Branch: What? Do Trolls get hurt?
Poppy: No, worse. They get… bummed out!
Branch: (gasps) Oh.
Poppy: But it doesn’t say what causes it. (She turns the pages.) Come on, scrapbook, I need specifics! (She runs off. Branch sighs and follows her.) Come on, come on, think. Something disappointing is gonna happen. (groans) What is it?!
Branch: I don’t know. It all looks pretty fun.
Poppy: Well then, I guess I just have to make it all even more fun! (She goes to Smidge’s juice shop. Smidge puts a flower and umbrella in bottles of juice.) Smidge, please tell me you have enough of your artisanal juices for every Troll to have seconds. Because if you didn’t, that would be such a letdown.
Smidge: Off course I do.
Poppy: What about 3rds? 4ths? 5ths?!
Smidge: Oh, my Guh! Those poor potentially thirsty Trolls! (She yells as she squeezes Stoutberries into the bottle quickly. Poppy then goes to Klaus’s cake shop.)
Poppy: Klause, you know what’s more fun than a bunch of small cakes? One big cake!
Klaus: (singsong) Yeah! Will get the frosting hose! (Poppy rushes to Rufus.)
Poppy: Rufus! The more Puffalo, the merrier. (More Puffaloes come through the gate.)
Rufus: Uh… not sure I agree, Queen Poppy.
Poppy: Just trust me! Woo-hoo! (She goes to more shops and throws confetti.) Here, try this! (She grabs a little umbrella.) Do it this way! (She puts the little umbrella in a purple female Troll’s drink.) More fun! (She adds lollipops to a candy shop.) More fun! (She returns to Branch panting.) That should do it, right? No bummer territory as far as the eye can see.
Branch: I’m not so sure. I’ve been thinking about the scrapbook.
Poppy: Me too. How it’s the solution to all of our problems, now and forever-
Branch: Poppy, I’m serious.
Poppy: Not done. … and ever.
Guy Diamond: Smidge, one lilac-infused Stoutberry Juice, please.
Smidge: One sec. Those are on the bottom. (We see a massive stack of barrels.) Poppy had me stock up. (She knocks over a barrel and the pile starts to fall.)
Poppy: (gasps) Smidge, watch out!
Smidge: (As the barrel pours juice) What did you say, Poppy? (A barrel falls and breaks.) Oh, my Guh! (Another barrel falls. Smidge screams and runs to Guy Diamond. She drags him away and the Stoutberry Juice washes them away. Meanwhile, Klaus has put pink frosting on a large cake.)
Klaus: It’s perfectly frosted! (He screams as the wave of Stoutberry Juice washes him away along with the cake. The hose sprays frosting all over one of Harper’s paintings and a green paint bucket flies into Rufus’s farm. He screams as the Puffaloes stomp on him while running away. A blue female Troll is talking to a teal male Glitter Troll.)
Troll #1: I’m just saying, why would you stack a bunch of these boxes right here in the middle of- (The Puffaloes appear and smash through the boxes. The Trolls scream and run away. The Hearts and Crafts Festival gets ruined. Keith gets send flying and a light blue male Troll catches him. The Trolls see the ruined festival.)
All: WE’RE SO DISAPPOINTED! (They begin to cry.)
Poppy: But… No! The prediction still can’t come true. I changed it all.
Branch: That’s what I was trying to tell you. I think you changing things is what made it come true. Think about it. (We go to the past.) I didn’t get paint on myself until after you showed up. It was the same with Keith.)
All: Hi, Queen Poppy!
Branch: And if I had to guess, it was the same with the other Trolls, too.
Past Poppy: DJ, look out! (The creature grabs DJ Suki. The construction Trolls scream as Poppy knocks them down. We then go back to the present.)
Poppy: So I actually caused all of this?
Branch: Ah, don’t beat yourself up. No matter how much you prepare, something always goes wrong. The real key is what you do with the mess when it really happens.
Poppy: (gasps) The mess! Branch, you’re a genius. (She drags Branch off. Then she turns on a megaphone and talks into it.) Attention! All I really wanted today was to make sure that everyone had a good time. But that can’t happen with this Hearts and Crafts Festival, so I’m officially declaring it over… (The crowd groans.) … and introducing…
All: Hm?
Poppy: … the first ever Hearts and Crafts Messtival! (Branch presses a button on Gary and the banner appears with the word “mess”. The crowd murmurs with confusion. Poppy throws red paint in Branch’s face and he throws purple paint in her face. All the Trolls cheer as they start throwing paint at each other. Harper paints a picture with her finger. A light blue male Glitter Troll pours red paint on himself. Harper then pours purple paint on herself.)
Harper: YEAH! Klaus sprays frosting at Smidge and she throws white frosting at him. Keith rolls in orange paint. A purple male Glitter Troll jumps to the ground and slides on orange paint while lying down.)
Glitter Troll #1: Whoa! Yeah!
Branch: Nice save.
Poppy: Thanks. Well, scrapbook, don’t know if you really are from the future, but I do know relying on you was a mistake. Better put you back in the forest where I found you. (She throws the book away. It goes through a wormhole and to another dimension.)
Poppy: (Alt. Dimension) Huh? (She picks up the scrapbook and cleans it.) Whoa!
