Script

(Poppy is skipping happily as a butterfly flies past her. She then passes some Trolls.)

Poppy: Good morning!

Country Troll Child #1: Good morning, Queen Poppy! (Poppy reaches Tiny Diamond on a tennis table.)

Tiny Diamond: (laughs) OK, toss bean comin’ at ya! (His hair forms a tennis racket and he hits his ball.) Kitta!

Poppy: All right, Tiny! Way to serve that ball too… (She sees that there is no-one on the other side of the tennis table.) … nobody? Um… Are you looking for someone to play with?

Poppy: What do you mean, Daddy’s friend Aunt Poppy? I got somebody. (He goes to the other side of the tennis table.) He’s a P in my partsie, he turns on my underage, he’s Shiny Diamond! (He blows his airhorns.) But, Tiny, there’s nobody-

Tiny Diamond: Now, gimme some of that homie handshake, lil’ Shiny D! (He pretends to do a handshake to someone.) Mm. Ah. Mm. OK, here. Mm. Back. Up top. Yeah. OK, let’s go. All ready? (Guy Diamond appears.)

Guy Diamond: Poppy?

Poppy: Oh, hey, Guy.

Guy Diamond: Just a little hairs-up: Shiny Diamond is Tiny’s new imaginary friend.

Poppy: Oh, an imaginary friend.

Guy Diamond: Yes, but to Tiny, he’s very real. He means the world to my little guy.

Poppy: Yeah, no, of course. When I was kid, I had an imaginary friend, too. Remelda, she always made me feel so safe ‘cause no matter where I went, even when I was all alone, I always had a good friend close by. But I haven’t not seen her in a long time. Don’t worry, Guy. I would never do anything spoil this for Tiny.

Tiny Diamond: Here! Uh-huh! Up top, Shiny! OK, let’s go! Here! (He sends himself flying off the tennis table net.) Here we go, up, up. (He sends himself flying higher with his hair. He then uses it as a parachute and farts glitter.) Kiss mouth and handshake over, people! (chuckles)

Poppy: Whoo! So impressive! Well, Shiny, it was a pleasure meeting you. (She pretends to shake hands with Shiny Diamond.) Ooh, strong grip. OK, I’m off to hang out with Val. Have a super fun day, you two.

Tiny Diamond: Wait. You’re just gonna leave, Aunt Poppy?

Poppy: Uh… what do you mean?

Tiny Diamond: Well, usually when you meet somebody new, you drop everything to get to know ‘em.

Poppy: (chuckles) I guess I do, don’t I?

Tiny Diamond: Yeah, so? Why would you do it for Shiny Diamond?

Poppy: Why? Um… No reason at all. I would love to spend some get to know you time with Shiny!

Tiny Diamond: Well, all right, Aunty P. Then let’s hustle up this party, Shiny Diamond style! (He blows his air horns.) Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! (We show pictures of him spending time with Shiny Diamond like eating ice cream and going down a slide. As Poppy and Tiny Diamond spend time with him, they sing Best Friends Forever.)

(Poppy)

You’ll be best friends forever

And ever to the end

Every day that we’re together

Is another day well spent

(Tiny Diamond)

Yeah, we’ll be best friends forever

And never, never better

Than when we’re together

Whether we’re playing hide and seek

Or maybe freeze

Tag is never bad

It’s like we have ESP

I get you, you get me

And it’s hard to imagine

There’s anyone else out there

Who sparkles like us

And make just a good pair

The way we do is me and me you

Through and through, hand in hand

We’ll be best friends to the end!

(Poppy)

You’ll be best friends forever

And ever to the end

Every day that we’re together

Is another day well spent

(Tiny Diamond)

Take it away, Shiny! (He throws a microphone to Shiny Diamond, but he doesn’t sing.)

Tiny Diamond: Oh, mic drop! Tiny and Shiny out! (He uses Poppy’s hair as a jump rope.) Way to jump rope, Shiny D! Whoo!

Poppy: (chuckles.) Gah. (An angry Val appears.)

Val: Popsqueak! I though we were gonna hang! Uh… well, this looks… I don’t know, bizarre? Painful? Bigger adjective.

Poppy: Sorry, Val. It’s just… Tiny wanted me to spend time with his imaginary friend, Shiny… (She grunts as her hair is being pulled tightly.) … and I don’t want him knowing Shiny isn’t real, so I… went along with it?

Val: Oh. Well, I know this isn’t like me, but I actually think that’s very sweet.

Poppy: Really?

Val: NO!!!

Poppy: Oh.

Val: Come on, Poppy! What’s your plan here? You’re just gonna keep letting him yank on your hair forever to protect him from the truth?

Poppy: Not forever. I’m sure Shiny will get word of jumping hair eventually. (Tiny Diamond stops yanking on her hair.)

Tiny Diamond: Shiny’s bored of jumping hair.

Poppy: Oh, really? See?

Tiny Diamond: Now he wants you teach him how to ride a bike.

Poppy: (chuckles) Aw! Sorry, what now? (Later, she is holding a bike.) So, you want me to teach Shiny how to ride a bike… all on his own?

Val: Why, Popsqueak? Is there some reason you can’t teach Shiny?

Tiny Diamond: Yeah, Aunt Poppy. Is there a reason?

Poppy: Oh, no, no reason. (She starts moving the bike.) So I’ll just… (The pedals on the bike start to move fast as she starts running.) Ooooooh!

Tiny Diamond: OK, he’s ready, Aunt Poppy! Let go!

Poppy: You sure, Tiny?! Maybe we should-

Tiny Diamond: He’ll never learn if you don’t let go! He’s ready, Aunt Poppy! (Poppy lets go of the bike and gasps as it moves very fast. It soon hits a tree and falls.) Aah! He wasn’t ready! (He runs over to the bike.) He wasn’t ready, Aunt Poppy!

Poppy: Oh, no! Oh, no! Oh, no! Oh, no!

Tiny Diamond: Shiny! Shiny, please! Tell me you are not hurt! Uh-huh. Uh-huh. Yeah. OK. Uh-huh. Yeah. No, yes, speak up. Yeah, OK. Uh-huh. Well, he’s got no cuts or broken bones.

Poppy: Oh, that’s good!

Tiny Diamond: But he says the emotional trauma runs real deep. (sniffs) Dang. Dang! It should have been me! (He begins to cry.)

Poppy: Oh, Tiny, don’t be sad. Believe me, Shiny isn’t upset. Not really. (Tiny Diamond stops crying.)

Tiny Diamond: Wait, he isn’t? But he just said he is.

Poppy: Oh. Uh… well… yeah… true.

Tiny Diamond: Well then why’d you say he’s not really upset? What’d you mean by that?

Poppy: Uh… well… All I meant was… um… uh… (gasps) Wait! I know what will cheer Shiny up! (She runs into the grass for a moment and comes back while pretending to hold a Cuddle Pup.) His very own Cuddle Puppy!

Val: What?

Poppy: Oh! (laughs) Oh, he’s so cute! (laughs) He’s licking my face! Here, Shiny. (She pretends to give the Cuddle Pup to Tiny Diamond and he gasps.)

Tiny Diamond: Who’s a good boy?! Who’s a good boy?! (He runs in circles.) Oh, yeah! Throw the stick, Shiny! (laughs) Go get it, Glitter Dog! (He laughs and claps his hands. Val is seen waiting impatiently on a rock.)

Val: Ugh.

Poppy: Oh, please, Val. Stop sulking. Shiny’s happy again and all I did was feed into Tiny’s fantasy a little. What’s the harm in that?

Tiny Diamond: (Blowing his airhorns at Poppy) Aunt Poppy!

Poppy: Gah!

Tiny Diamond: Glitter Dog is gone!

Poppy: What?!

Tiny Diamond: He just ran off into the woods! Shiny’s worried sick! We gotta go find him! (He runs off.) Come on, everybody!

Val: Um, you were saying? (Poppy gasps and runs after Tiny Diamond.)

Tiny Diamond: Glitter Dog! Glitter Dog!

Poppy: Wait, Tiny, it’s OK. Glitter Dog is, um… right here.

Tiny Diamond: No, he’s not. That’s some other dog. (Poppy pretends to pick up another Cuddle Pup.) Well, now you’re holding nothing! Is this a game to you?! Wait. You hear that barking?

Poppy: Barking? (Tiny Diamond gasps and runs over a bridge.)

Tiny Diamond: There he is!

Poppy: (Running over to bridge) Oh, good! (She gasps and sees how dangerous the bridge is.)

Val: Oh, wow.

Tiny Diamond: He’s stuck in the middle of that bridge! You gotta rescue him, Aunt Poppy! (Poppy and Val see Glitter Gators. A giant fish eats them and an octopus eats it.)

Val: OK, Poppy, this whole situation has gotten officially very uncool! You cannot go out there!

Poppy: Yeah. Yeah, Val. I think you’re right. Tiny, I- (She gasps and sees Tiny Diamond’s begging eyes.)

Tiny Diamond: Please, Aunt Poppy! Save Glitter Dog! For Shiny!

Poppy: Never mind! I’m going out there!

Tiny Diamond: Yeah!

Val: Seriously?!

Poppy: Yes, Val. Seriously. (She starts walking carefully.) Oh… (She starts swinging on the bridge.)

Val: Poppy, stop! Come back!

Tiny Diamond: Keep going, Aunt Poppy! I believe in you!

Val: No! Don’t! This is way out of hand!

Tiny Diamond: You’re setting a heroic example to my impressionable young mind!

Val: Ugh.

Poppy: And it’s OK, Val! It seems pretty sturdy! Looks like some fresh brave action on these joints so I think it’s pretty safe! (She takes a step forward and a piece falls off. Val and Tiny Diamond gasp while Poppy pants.) It’s OK! Other than that, I think it’s pretty safe! (She takes another step and another piece falls.) Other than that- (She takes another step and more pieces fall off.) Hey! OK, forget this! Clearly I’ve taken things way too far! I’m coming back! (Just as she is about to go back to Val and Tiny Diamond, the bridge breaks even more and she falls down screaming.)

Val and Tiny Diamond: Aaah! (Val uses her hair to grab Poppy. As she goes back up, the predators sulk.)

All: Aw. (Poppy lands next to Val and they pant.)

Poppy: Thank you, Val.

Val: Can you just tell him already? (Poppy takes a deep breath.)

Poppy: Tiny, I’ve been trying to avoid this all day, but… there’s something I’ve gotta tell you. (sighs)

Tiny Diamond: No, no, no, no, Aunt Poppy, there’s something I’ve got to tell you. (sniffs) Shiny Diamond isn’t real.

Poppy: What?! You knew?! W-when did you-

Tiny Diamond: About 15 minutes after I imagined him. But then you clearly seemed to think he was real, and I didn’t want to spoil it for you, so…

Poppy: But I went out on the bridge. (She looks at the bridge as it falls completely apart. A big splash can be heard.)

Tiny Diamond: Yeah, and I say Tiny Diamond took that part way too far. But hey, I’m just a kid. What’s your excuse?

Poppy: But… but… I-I almost-

Tiny Diamond: OK, glad we got that all worked out. Uh, it’s been real bless up. Tiny out! (He blows his airhorns as he walks away.)

Poppy; Uh…

Val: Wow. Am I glad that’s over with. Because now, I can finally introduce you to Rockarella! (chuckles) And boy, oh, boy, do we have some fun things planned for you! (Poppy grunts in frustration.)
